Today, a 7 foot long dog has made its way into Children Fiction Books. I’m calling the dog Daeja, as this is a fiction in this book for children. No doubt, there is a real dog who is 7 foot long, but I am using a fictional name for this invented story in Children Fiction Books.
Daeja, being a 7 foot long dog, had to sit on the back seat of a special vehicle. Daeja had to sit on his bum at one end of the floorboard and stretch out his body to span the breadth of the vehicle. The interior of a normal car was usually only about 6 feet sideways. It was always a tight squeeze for a 7 foot long dog. Daeja had to be transported in another vehicle, which had to be a mini van or anything larger than that.
One day, Daeja’s owner, Dafny, took him to the bank. Dafny had to withdraw some money to pay for Daeja’s shots at the vet. Yep, it was that time of the year when Daeja had to receive his vaccinations. Dafny had to leave Daeja in the minivan. The bank disallowed dogs inside its premises.
Daeja didn’t mind waiting in the minivan. Dafny had rolled down a window to prevent Daeja from getting hyperventilated in the hot summer heat.
Daeja wasted no time to move himself to the front seat of the minivan. He loved to sit in front. Being a 7 foot long dog, Daeja seldom had the opportunity to ride out front and enjoy the scenery.
Daeja gazed out at the urban scenery. He was lazily waiting for Dafny to return when suddenly, his daydreaming was rudely interrupted.
A man wearing a hoodie came up to Dafny’s minivan and tried to yank open the door. Daeja barked at him and he was taken aback. Daeja knew he was trying to get into the minivan. Daeja growled at the stranger and showed his canine teeth. The stranger came eye to eye with Daeja and he turned tail and ran away as fast as his legs could carry him.
The stranger was so shocked to see Daeja that he fled. That was not a moment too soon, as the bank’s security guards came outside and started shouting at the escaping man with the hoodie.
“Stop, thief!” A guard cried out.
Daeja pricked up his ears. Robber? So the stranger in the hoodie was trying to make a getaway in his owner’s minivan after robbing the bank. Daeja wished he could get out of the minivan to chase after the suspect.
Dafny came running out of the bank. “Oh, Daeja! I was watching the man when he approached our minivan! I was so afraid that he would try to steal our minivan and drive away! Then I would have lost you forever!”
Dafny gave Daeja a big hug. Daeja was pleased to have his owner’s attention. Boy! He was glad he wasn’t dognapped along with the minivan. It wouldn't be that easy to kidnap a seven foot long dog!
