Beauty is only skin deep in Children Fiction Books. Girls and women with flawless complexions exist in fiction books. What happens when the female does not have perfect skin? Have you read a fiction about one such girl? This girl had a nasty accident which was written about in this Fiction Book. Her story did not end there but served as an inspiration to all children to open their eyes and be aware that beauty is only skin deep.
This is the fiction of Jenny and how she got a horrible burn.
It was Guy Fawkes night, the night where children celebrated by playing with sparklers and small fire crackers. Guy Fawkes was a Roman Catholic who fought against the discrimination of the English Catholic people. Guy Fawkes wanted to blow up the building where most of the Protestant rulers were inside. Fortunately or unfortunately, Guy Fawkes was caught before he could execute his plan.
Guy Fawkes Day is celebrated on November 5. Jenny was outside her home, standing on the street, and taking in the festive air of Guy Fawkes night. The children of her neighborhood played with small firecrackers and sparklers.
The sparker was held at the end of a stick. There was a whistling variety that made a whistling sound as it burned along the powdered stick.
One of the neighborhood boys was walking around, holding his lit sparkler in his right hand, while holding a bunch of new, unlit sparklers in his left hand. He walked past Jenny and was distracted as he called out to his friend standing at the opposite side of the street.
The boy brushed past Jenny and his sparkler stick scorched her arm.
“Ooow,” Jenny cried out in pain.
“Oops! I’m sorry!” The boy was alarmed and afraid at what he had accidentally done. He ran away, and disappeared in the dark night.
Jenny felt the pain soar in her left arm. She felt the chemicals biting into her skin. Jenny knew she had to tell Mommy about it. Jenny quickly returned home and showed Mommy her fresh wound. Under the bright kitchen light, Mommy saw a small, nasty looking burn on Jenny’s forearm.
Mommy took out their First Aid box and administered an antiseptic cleaner to Jenny’s burn. Then, she applied an antiseptic cream and bandaged up the injured spot.
Jenny was very brave and didn’t cry. After her wound was cleaned, it began to hurt less. Gradually, the pain decreased. Jenny was worried about getting an ugly scar.
“Mom, will I get a scar? The other children will tease me if I get an ugly scar!”
“You should tell them that beauty is only skin deep,” Mommy consoled Jenny.
Jenny told Mommy about the boy who burned her and ran away. Mommy was angry but there was nothing they could do.
A few days later, Mommy took out the dressing by undoing the bandage. Jenny had a miserable looking scar.
“Don’t worry,” said Mommy. “Beauty is only skin deep and a scar is a small matter. As you grow older, your skin complexion will change and your scar may not be visible or outstanding.”
Jenny felt gratified to learn that beauty didn’t matter all the time. She held on to Mom’s words on leaving time to fix her scar. Gradually, as Jenny grew to accept her scar, she didn’t feel so self conscious about it.
