My Christmas story for Children Fiction Books is one that many children have encountered. In fact, this story is a nonfiction as it is all too true for me.
Have you experienced Christmas Woes? Do you have the problem of possessing lesser money at your disposal than what is perceived to be needed? I have that problem sometimes. I wish I could buy some really good presents but they are too costly for my budget. I try to console myself with “It’s the Thought that counts”.
I’m an only child so I only need to shop for presents for my parents. Mom accompanies me on my shopping trip and she pretends not to notice when I pick out something for her at the store. I can freely ask her for assistance in choosing Dad’s present. I could have done the reverse by asking Dad to accompany me when I shop for Mom’s gift. But that never happens as he is always too busy to take me out shopping.
I’m a child who saves nearly all her pocket money. I scrimp on lunch so that I would have some coins for my piggy bank. Whenever I need to buy presents, I would dip into my piggy band and count out some money for my extravagance. I used a big word – extravagance; as I wanted to convey my message that buying gifts is an indulgence for me. I feel happy being able to buy presents.
This Christmas, I have to save as much as I can. Besides buying two presents for my parents, I want to buy a present for myself. I want to reward myself, because I have a nagging suspicion that Mom would not be buying me a toy.
How many times have you come across the saying that it’s the thought that counts when you receive a present? How many times have you been disappointed because the giver’s thought isn’t what you thought you would love to receive? Well, this Christmas, I’m going to give myself the present I want because nobody else is going to give me exactly what I want.
I am rubbing my hands with glee as I think about this. Yes! The excitement is almost killing me! Can you guess what I am buying for myself this Christmas? I only have cash for a very small thing in a collection of larger things. Its starts with S and has this many letters: S _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Families.
