The Children Fiction Books website presents the Christmas Story of “How email saved Christ 2009″. Children from all over the world love reading Christmas fiction in books. I like this story on how there is hope for the children although the situation looked bleak at first. Although this short story is written for a Fiction Books website, the circumstances are true.
The Yuletide season of 2009 is blighted by the Royal Mail strike in the United Kingdom. All postmen and postwomen have gone on strike and the mail is undelivered. It is estimated that 100 million pieces of mail would not reach their destinations. The receivers will have to prepare to wait out the strike.
The government has not hired anyone else to deliver the mail. The postal union may simply forbid any temporary action designed to alleviate the problem. The union wants to bring the directors of the Royal Mail to their knees and bow to the demands of the postal workers.
Oh dear! That means Santa Claus will not be getting his mail too. How is Santa to know what the girls and boys have requested for their Christmas presents? Santa and Mrs Claus have been waiting for their mail. Their elves have been idling in their toy factory. The elves have no ideas what to manufacture for this year’s batch of kids. Everyone at the North Pole was waiting to get the mail to fire up the engines and start work.
Santa Claus was anxious and worried. He pulled at his beard nervously. “How am I going to get my mail from all the children of the world? They will be very disappointed if they can’t get their toys this Christmas!” Santa confided in his dear wife, Mrs Claus.
Mrs Claus put on her thinking cap and sat on her rocker by the fireplace. “Hmmm … How about we go online to read our Christmas mail? We can make an announcement to all the press agencies in the world. We’ll ask them to tell the children to send us their Christmas wish list via emails.”
“Yes! We can do that! Mrs Claus, you’re a genius!” Santa gave his wife a kiss on her right cheek. “Why didn’t I think of that before!”
With that, Santa got to work, ringing his publicity release agent, Mr Chatty. Pretty soon, Mr Chatty had the whole world buzzing about sending emails to Santa.
Within hours, Santa’s email box was flooded with emails. Santa and his elves worked furiously to clear incoming mail. They set the controls of their toy factory to manufacture the required gifts for the kids. The elves were happily whistling away as they worked.
Santa Claus’ Master Apprentice said that they just had sufficient time to manufacture, pack and deliver all the Christmas gifts for the yuletide season of 2009. The Christmas of 2009 will be saved.
