I have a story on a scary experience for Children Fiction Books. I know people say children are easily scared but this stuff was scary enough to be written as a fiction story for books. Once bitten twice shy, I would never go through the same experience again. This is how the fiction started …
One day, I went sight seeing at the beach. There was a tall lighthouse type of structure that visitors could climb up and look at the scenery from the bird’s eye point of view. Needless to say, I simply couldn’t refuse the opportunity to climb up.
I got into the structure and discovered that the staircase was made of synthetic rock to lend a rustic feel to the tower. It was spooky climbing up the stairs. I could hear voices.
I was frightened. I thought there were spooks in the stair well. The voices were faint and the words were not distinctive enough to be heard. I strained my ears to catch the sounds, trying hard to discern what the voices might be saying. I couldn’t hear anything clearly but the voices sounded like they were speaking the human language.
I debated on whether to continue my climb up or retrace my footsteps and walk down. From the tiny windows hacked into the stairwell, I could see that I was some distance away from the ground level. I could see the scenery. Objects looked like small miniatures and told me I was pretty high up in the tower.
I decided to take the risk to continue my flight up. I thought I saw some people who had entered the stairwell before and I was sure to meet them at the summit. Besides, it was more scary to climb down in the dim lighting than to climb up, where there would be sunlight at the open balcony of the lighthouse.
I persevered and with each step, I felt less nervous as the voices grew fainter and fainter. The sounds did not face away but became muted. After a long, agonizing time, I finally reached the top, I pushed open the heavy swing door and was confronted by bright sunlight. I made it!
There was a small group of visitors at the balcony. They were busy taking pictures. The scenery was beautiful as I could see miles away, all around me. I followed their example and took some photographs as souvenirs.
The visitors got ready to leave and so did I. The thought of walking alone down the long flight of stairs made me shudder. The group walked ahead of me and I closed in behind them. We looked like a meandering snake as we slowly made our way down.
Phew! I’m never ever gong to climb long staircases alone again. Once bitten twice shy.
