Today, Children Fiction Books presents the story of how a child learns not to cry over spilled milk as what’s done can not be undone.
Jenny accidentally plucked off the flower from a stalk on Mom’s display on the coffee table. Poor Jenny was miserable.
She was afraid Mom would give her an ear lashing. Jenny tried to fix the flower back on its stalk. Jenny tried to screw it on but it couldn’t be re-attached. Jenny thought of using glue or sticky tape to fix the flower back on its stalk.
Jenny went to get her glue, scissors and tape. Just as she was applying glue on the broken stem of the flower, Mom walked by.
“What are you doing?” Mom asked Jenny.
Jenny broke into sobs. “I’m sorry I broke your flower.”
Mom saw the tape, glue and broken flower on the table.
“My goodness, Jenny! Were you trying to glue or tape back the flower?”
“Yes .. I’m sorry I broke it accidentally,” Jenny was inconsolable.
“You can’t fix a torn or broken flower. You can’t cry over spilled milk that can’t be recovered either.”
Mom paused before continuing. “I forgive you, Jenny. What’s done can’t be undone. Just promise me you’ll be more careful and not do it again.”
Jenny’s tears stopped and she sniffed as she said, “Thank you, Mom. I promise to be careful with the flowers in future.”
The spilled milk episode was never forgotten and Jenny never broke another flower again.
